I was born in Metepec, a small but colourful city in Mexico. After obtaining my BSc. in Chemistry in Mexico, I came to Canada to pursue a M.Sc. however, I transferred to the Ph.D. program after the first year. I decided to join Brown group since I was looking for a chance to do computational research around proteins, and certainly, I got it. Currently I am interested in mixed quantum mechanical/molecular mechanical (QMM/MM) methods to study fluorescent proteins. Although I enjoy spending time in the office, I also enjoy wandering around the city and enjoying a good cup of coffee (pst! mostly over the winter), or to go for a run in the trails that Edmonton has by the river.
